SH 82/Grand Avenue Bridge Project

Glenwood Springs, Colorado

Hirschfeld is fabricating 1,300 tons of tub girders for the SH 82/Grand Avenue Bridge project in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, for our customer Granite – RLW Joint Venture.

The Grand Avenue Bridge project is a 30-month construction project to replace the 60-year old existing bridge and connects downtown Glenwood Springs, the Historic Hot Springs District and Interstate 70. The 1,000-foot bridge spans I-70, the Colorado River and two Union Pacific Railroad mainline tracks. This is the largest infrastructure project on the Western Slope in 25 years. It is expected to be completed in May of 2018.

The project, which is being fabricated at our plant in San Angelo, Texas, utilizes weathering steel Grade A709 50W, which minimizes maintenance and inspection costs.
